Lagoon Nebula Region
![]() The Lagoon Nebula (Messier 8) is located in a very densely populated region of our galaxy in the constellation Sagittarius. Directly above the Lagoon Nebula is the much smaller Trifid Nebula (M20), the small red and blue area. The red areas in this photo are huge clouds of hydrogen gas. Most of the other "glowing" areas are caused by millions of stars toward the center of our galaxy. • Date: September 7,
